Temporary Change Of Scene

The Gazette is now in Zagreb for the next couple of months or so, and therefore deserves to be a little more active than of late. (Serendipitously, it arrived just as Zagreb's annual International Folklore Festival is getting under way, which might itself be good for a post or two.)

In the meantime, a couple of regular Gazette characters have been fetching up elsewhere: here are East Ethnia on Severina, and a relaunched Hej, pane diskžokej on one of her Slovenian counterparts, Rebeka Dremelj.

Maybe its a little 'lowbrow' but have you heard of the catfight going on between Seka and Stoja splashed all over the tabloids in Serbia today?

Did somebody mention the 'silly season'?

Hi Catherine,

Long time no talk, there's a little crew of bloggers arriving here in Zagreb it seems for the summer. I'm here myself, though fortunately am off to the seaside next week to escape this horrible heat.

Just had a little question, who performs the song 'Moj Dom Je Hrvatska'? I heard it on the radio yesterday and just wondered.

Anyway, enjoy the city and be sure to go to Vincek for plenty of icecream.

Take care,
Ed.

The Serbian tabloids seem to be on a 365-day silly season as it is... Seka was meant to be having a catfight with Jelena Karleuša instead, the last I heard of it (or maybe she's just having a busy summer).

'Moj dom je Hrvatska' is Prljavo kazalište's semi-latest - came out last year I think, but not surprised it's still getting airplay.

Unfortunstely I'm here for work stuff, so escaping to the seaside would kind of miss the point for me...

Hey John Anderson (nice alias),

Oh, don’t turn away, ALIEN LEADER. What’s been going on? Have you lost your job? I hope it wasn't my fault. I am sorry, but I told you so, buddy. Trying to deceive people who trust you usually doesn't pay out. Maybe you should have refrained trying to get involved in the Intel Business. Experience shows it doesn't tolerate lose cannons like you. You should have come clean, when I first warned you. (Oh, by the way - could I please see a copy of the death threat I was supposed to have sent you? Am I right in assuming it doesn't exist? On another tangent: Sarajevo Embassy informed me, it never received your communications, you liar). You are nothing but lies, self-righteousness and Vodka, Buddy. Maybe, this has taught you a lesson. I love your hooker-reviews though (http://escorts.com/viewreview.asp?n=22437). Keep up the good work. I will remain watching you, Johnny Boy!

Your Ghost
